Gas pipeline SCADA system. As an example we bring the SCADA system built in Central Asia, on a turn-key basis, by the A.F.S.K. Group of Companies and launched in October, 2000. The system has been designed for the centralized monitoring and control of the entire network of gas-transporting installations, located along the 750-km pipeline, that consists of 2 - 3 lines of 1.4 m in diameter. The gas line comprises 6 regional compressor stations and 23 valve stations. More than 2000 signals are monitored at the Central Control Room, located 600 km from the beginning of the line and 150 km from its end, through a special radio communication system providing data exchange between the objects. Designed, developed and built by A.F.S.K., the SCADA system ensures stable operational control over the objects both under normal conditions and in emergency, thus preventing gas leakages. The addition of a SCADA system is critical for the safe operation of worn-out gas lines having been exploited for an extended period of time and running the risk of pipeline rupture. |
